Damn I'm Handy

Brady, might it be said that, for a significant slice of the population (Home Depot-going-tool-belt-wearing-glue-gun-wielding-spackle applying-sorts), door renovating is an opiate of the masses??

-Lisa in New Hampshire

Lisa – I believe it was C. Wright Mill who wrote that home improvement projects were an opiate for the masses. It was part of a list that also included team tennis, wet cardboard, “Honky Cat” by Elton John and the “Elbows of the Bay City Rollers” trading card set.

Mill released a second list the following year, but it didn’t work out as well because it was just a copy of his weekly shopping list with the word “Vicodin” scribbled in at the end.

– Brady
