25 Days of Holiday Songs 2024: “Angels We Have Heard On High” by The Rondelles

Back in the early to mid 2000s, when I lived in neighborhoods where broadcast TV and radio signals didn’t come in very well, back when streaming services hadn’t taken hold, I got most of my music recommendations from MP3 blogs. That’s where I first heard about The Rondelles, a super catchy, occasionally punky indie pop band from DC by way of Albuquerque. Their original songs were terrific (if you’ve never heard “Safety In Numbers” or “Please Shut Up,” check them out as soon as you can) and they could really make a cover song their own, whether it was their proto-Linda Lindas version of Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” or this bouncy, upbeat version of “Angels We Have Heard On High.” A band that deserves another listen!
