25 Days of Holiday Songs 2024: “Sexy Christmas Baby Mine” by Morphine

This one goes out to my oldest kid, who (like me) has spent a lot of this year listening to these underappreciated pioneers of “low rock” from Boston. I have to choose my words carefully when I tell people about his favorite groups; in this day and age, people get really confused when you say in a cheerful voice “my 13 year old has gotten really into Morphine!”

This track was originally a B-side to a very limited-edition 7” single in the early 90s. But it’s since been re-released on a compilation, which means we can all add it to our holiday music countdowns.
