25 Days of Holiday Songs: “Last Christmas” by The Rubber Band

I’ve been collecting holiday music for about 20 years, so finding something that’s new to me but not brand new is pretty tough. And to come across something wonderful that I somehow missed along the way… that’s just about the best. Today’s song is right in that sweet spot – it’s from an album called “Xmas! The Beatmas” by a Beatles tribute band called The Rubber Band. The album is full of mashups of Beatles songs that are refashioned as Christmas songs, or vice versa. This one is a cover of the Wham! holiday hit “Last Christmas,” but they play it as if it was the Beatles’ cover of “Please Mr. Postman,” and it’s pretty close to perfect.
