Years ago a retailer advertised a phone line where kids could talk to Santa, except the number in the ad actually sent kids to the North American Aerospace Defense Command. The staffers decided to play along and later began tracking Santa’s Christmas flights as a PR move during the Cold War.

Even today they go all out, providing not only real time updates on where the man and his bag are going, they provide a pretty jaunty soundtrack! Perhaps the most appropriate song they play, given what they do on Christmas Eve, is “Here Comes Santa Claus.”
