25 Days of Holiday Songs 2024: “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” by Regis Philbin

If you knew anything about Regis Philbin’s persona/personality, there’s very little that’s going to surprise you about his holiday album. That’s especially true for his version of “Rudolph,” in which he goes way off the usual course and just starts naming famous New Yorkers, including half of the 2005 New York Yankees lineup. There’s even a guest appearance from a famous New Yorker in the second half of the song; I won’t spoil it for you other than to say it’s not a baseball player.

This is another one I first heard about on the amazing podcast Bizarre Albums. Happy holidays Tony Thaxton!
