25 Days of Holiday Songs 2024: “Twas The Night Before Christmas” by David Hasselhoff

The rule on this website is that no one hassles The Hoff, and we’re sticking to that in the holiday countdown. Pay no mind to the New York Post, which once named David Hasselhoff’s 2004 collection the absolute worst celebrity Christmas album of all time. Forget that Australian columnist Matthew Dunn once wrote that “nothing says scraping the bottom of the barrel quite like David Hasselhoff’s The Night Before Christmas.”

Here, we celebrate David Hasselhoff’s musical legacy just as we honor his towering performance on “Knight Rider.” (As for “Baywatch,” um, did I mention how good he was on “Knight Rider”?) And so when this absolute legend channels his inner Clement Clarke Moore and recites the classic poem about a late night visit from St. Nicholas, we’re playing it and we’re playing it up big.

Look, Christmas Eve is one of my absolute favorite days of the year. This is when my extended family gets together for our one big party of the year. We eat, we sing, we give a few gifts, we say thanks that no matter what happens the other days of the year, this one we get to make special together.

And believe me that if I get the chance, I will play this at the party.
