Diamond Dave or Sammy Hagar? – Christine

Gary Cherone. COME AT ME PEOPLE.

Honestly, the Cherone VH record isn’t as bad as its reputation suggests. People think all the songs are bad, but two of them are ok!

But to the original question, I’m a Diamond Dave guy. Van Hagar is not without its charms and I bought OU812 on vinyl back in the day, but the real leader of the band back then was the synthesizer and that’s not really what I came to that band for. Also, Hagar’s memoir is, um, highly unpleasant in many ways.

In happier, related news: I am trying to teach my kids to sing the “Hey! Hey! Hey!” part of “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.”
