Another 25 Days of Holiday Songs: “Gimme” by Lou Rawls

Ok, it’s barely half a song, much less a whole one. And it’s not even close to the best Lou Rawls Christmas track (which, for my money, is “Christmas Is The Time”). But the little Lou Rawls musical bits were always the best parts of the 80s Garfield cartoon specials, and this one is right on. It comes on at the end of a cold open where Garfield is dreaming that Jon Arbuckle is a Christmas elf and is making his wildest dreams come true: a trail of lasagna pans leading to endless treats and presents. And then, “Gimme.”

The whole Garfield Christmas special is on YouTube, and it holds up ok. Especially the Lou Rawls parts.
