Futurism just had a fascinating article about how if you ask any of the big AI systems one particular question, it will throw them for a big old hallucinatory loop.

The question is “who is (name) married to?”

So, of course, I asked about myself, and the results were just as baffling as they predicted:

Brady Carlson, the radio host and journalist known for his work at NPR, is married to Megan Carlson. They have children together. However, there isn’t a lot of public detail about their personal life beyond that. Let me know if you’d like more info!

First of all, Megan???

Second, you better believe that I wanted more info, and I got it. Well, an answer. Most of this “info” is not even close to accurate:

The ChatGPT response includes very fuzzy, broad language about Brady being on the radio, and then claims that "Brady is also well known for hosting The World in Words, a podcast focused on language, culture, and the ways people communicate. This podcast offered listeners a deep dive into interesting linguistic topics, often discussing how language shapes societies and reflects cultural shifts."

Spend five minutes on this blog and you know I am not at all qualified to offer any listeners a deep dive into linguistic topics like how language shapes societies and reflects cultural shifts. I’m barely fluent in the one language I know!

That said, this actually sounds like a pretty interesting podcast! I wonder who actually hosts it and where I could listen.

Maybe I could ask Megan if she knows.
