Warren Harding’s Tomb

Buried: Marion, Ohio
Died: August 3, 1923

See him: President Harding once said he didn’t expect to be the best president but hoped to be the best loved. He had a pretty good claim to being the best-loved dead president following his untimely demise in 1923: millions of Americans came out to see the train carrying his body from California to Washington. And a big fundraising effort helped bring about this colossal monument in Harding’s hometown of Marion. America hasn’t exactly kept up its love for the Harding administration, but the monument is a local landmark and worth seeking out when you’re in the area.
