Emmylou Harris’s 1979 collection “Light of the Stable” is always on heavy rotation around my house this time of year; Allmusic put it perfectly when they said she’s “a singer born to make a great Christmas album.” Not only does she write and choose great songs and great arrangements, she shares the mic with some great friends and fellow performers, with appearances by Neil Young, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Rodney Crowell, Linda Ronstadt, James Burton and Ricky Scaggs, to name a few. “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” is just right for the season.
