Cold Holiday: Candy Cane

“Candy Cane” is the 2024 holiday single by Cold Holiday.

This could have been so sweet
A perfect ending, perfect fit
The spot was always here for you
If only you’d ever wanted it

The one where you were on my side
Or knew I had a side to take
Lit the candles, poured the drinks
Or just listened to what I had to say as if it mattered

As if it mattered

No one needs magic
Til the curse is cast above their door
I stepped outside for quiet
and back inside I found you’d ordered up a war

First I wait and then I brace
Until I’m told whose fault this is
Even when it’s Christmas, I don’t know what bliss is
but I know it isn’t this

Not that it matters

It was empty under the Christmas tree
Bows and ribbons stayed packed away
You’d call it drama to point out that
you’d long since taken everything there was to take

Next you took a step away
and said “with you, something always has to be the matter”
Colder than the worst of the weather
Swinging words like a hammer

Until I shatter
Broken pieces of candy cane flying everywhere
at the end of winter
