“Families are presents”

Last night at Christmas dinner my middle kid told me that “families are presents.” We had a few of the regular kind this year too, though there was a slight hiccup during the present opening when two of those presents ended up hiding from us for about a half hour; we only found them after we cleaned up the whole living room (this is why it’s good to clean up after ourselves!). But he is absolutely right. When you find your people, whether they’re ones your born with, the ones you choose, or both, it’s like getting a big present over and over.

From me and my people to you and your people, Merry Christmas and happy new year!
