Dead Presidents

Herbert Hoover, I’m Coming For You

If you didn't know that Herbert Hoover had a sport named after him, stay tuned - I'll fill you in soon.

On This Day In 1875, Andrew Johnson Died

Johnson died of a stroke not long after taking a seat in the US Senate - the same body, of course, that tried to remove him from the White House.

On this day in 1836, James Madison died

"Nothing more than a change of mind, my dear," he said, before slumping over.

A whoa moment

Thank you all for supporting (humoring?) me with this project.

Dwight D Eisenhower is president #32 in my gravesites project!

at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene, Kansas.

This Week I Am Ram Tough For Some Reason

Today I head west to see Eisenhower's grave. I'm hoping my enormous truck does not block out the view!

Harry Truman is president #31 in my gravesites project!

at Harry S. Truman Library & Museum.

The buck stopped at this “The Buck Stops Here” sign.

at Harry S. Truman Library & Museum.

Today in 1994 we lost Richard Nixon.

Rumors he will return, "Futurama"-style, in 2999 are thus far unsubstantiated.

What people are reading

The James A. Garfield Assassination Spot Is Right About Here

Three presidential assassination spots are clearly marked. The fourth isn't marked at all - but I may have found it.

James Buchanan Memorial

"Buchanan was a great president too," said absolutely no one - so why does he have a memorial?

Dwight Eisenhower’s Tomb

The Eisenhower Library campus includes a church-shaped building called the Place of Meditation. The name of the building isn't figurative: there's an actual chapel inside the Eisenhower tomb.

Gerald Ford’s Tomb

As a president who was known for his openness and candor, it should be no surprise that Gerald Ford's gravesite is out front next to the Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.

John Adams’ Tomb

It doesn't smell in this basement crypt, but even if it did, there are two presidents and two first ladies in there. A room like that could smell if it wanted to.
